In 1961, an Egyptian diver stumbled by chance upon a collection of statues on the seabed, including an extraordinary, huge Ptolemaic sculpture. This was the discovery of the lost city of Alexandria. This is the story of the excavations in 1994 which uncovered artefacts beyond their wildest imaginations and is illustrated by the photographer Stephane Compoint who took part in the excavations.
