Bryozoans can be found in most marine habitats. There are at least 4000 species presently known around the world, with the true total probably much higher than this. This Synopsis covers the 45 species of the order Ctenostomata which occur in British waters. It is complete in itself and includes sections devoted to general bryozoan structure, the classification of Bryozoa and a key to the higher taxa. This Synopsis is part of a series of four devoted to the Bryozoa.
