The author draws on his long association with motor sailers of a variety of types to explain their many virtues. The book examines the various hull forms, the requirements of propulsion and steering, the deck layout, superstructure, accommodation and equipment and explains the forces which act on a motor sailer, so that the owners may understand their boats better. The handling of motor sailers under both sail and power - used independently and in combination - is explored in relation to both harbour and open sea conditions.
