The discovery of the Tune ship in 1867 and the Gokstad ship in 1880 meant a tremendous advance... Now we had an answer to practically all our questions regarding the construction and building of the Viking ships and about the way in which practical problems large and small were solved and about these matters the sagas say almost nothing. And then, in 1904, the third and last of the "classic" Viking ships was uncovered - the Oseberg ship. All these three ships may now be seen in the Viking Ship Hall at Bygday in Oslo, and we hope that this booklet may provide an answer to more of the questions likely to be asked by the visitor to this exhibition.
