The Sydney Wooden Boat School manuals were written after the first few years of running classes to fill the need for a reference for those undertaking the classes. Ian Smith’s experience of explaining boatbuilding methods to first-timers meant that these manuals are easy to understand and contain professional tips not always found in other boatbuilding literature. Now combined in one volume, each of the four manuals covers a different method of constructing a boat. These are: Building a Traditional Clinker Dinghy, Epoxy Strip Planking, Plywood Clinker Construction and Building the Whiting Skiff. The first section has general information on the different building methods to help you select a method, and there is an extensive new section on Carvel Planking as well as information on Restoring a Putt-Putt Launch. Comprising 218 pages thoroughly illustrated with Ian’s line drawings and many photographs, Wooden Boatbuilding will be a valuable addition to boatbuilding literature.
