This latest in Arnold Kludas's world renowned Great Passenger Ships series, encompassing individual illustrated biographies of the world's vessels, presents ali ships measured to respective gross tonnages exceeding 10,000 in existence in late 1991. Great Passenger Ships of the World Today differs from earlier volumes in having for the first time full illustrated biographies of vessels which, since withdrawal from deepsea passenger servi ce, are now school, museum or hotel ships. Aiso featured are passenger vessels whose gross tonnages have been greater than 10,000 but which are now measured in lower figures. Appendix 1 continues to list alphabetically, with up-dating notes, passenger vessels featured in the earlier volumes but which have since become cargo carriers only, or been converted for naval service. The biographies - presented in chronological order - list technical details and passenger accommodation, noting changes as they have occurred, plus main incidents during the ships' life-spans. Photographs are to a consistently high standard, and included for the first time is a colour section. It ali adds up to an indispensable reference work for ali serious shiplovers.
