Messageries Maritimes was one ofthe world's most outstanding shipping companies. Since its inception in1835 by L'Administration des Postes and the launching of Messageries Imperiales in 1851 it has operated the 363 ships listed in this volume. As usual, a chronological company history is followed by an illustrated fleet list giving the technical data and career history of every ship. The book is illustrated by 191 scale profile drawings covering ali but five of the fleet.
