This book describes, with illustrations and brief biographies, all the ships engaged in passenger service in the Pacific during the past forty years or more . Altogether 226 ships are illustrated and another 24 of minor importance are described . The line drawings of each ship give an indication of comparative size , national characteristics, and evolution of design through the years . Following each illustration is the pertinent information on the ship shown; years of service, physical data, builder, changes of ownership and name, together with noteworthy incidents in her career. The author has prepared a compiete and conveniently arranged reference book on a vanishing form of transport, which serves to recall to ship lovers and former passengers, the appearance and history of a long line of ships.
