Passenger ships of Australia and New Zealand is the most comprehensive coverage of these vessels to have been published. The total work provides information on many notable ships as well as on a large number that are little known outside their native shores. Volume One of the series covers some 125 vessels that were placed in service from 1876 to 1912 by 21 companies from Australia and four from New Zealand. This provides an insight into the growth of passenger shipping around and between Australia and New Zealand combined with the beginnings of sea-trade from those countries across the Pacific and also to Britain. The vessels are listed in the o rder of their entry into servicc. and a full history of each ship is providcd. together with over 160 photographs. Volume Two covers the years 1913 lo 1980. and also includes a comprehensive fleet list for both volumes.
